LA RÉALITÉ
It´s about the ever faster perception of space and time in a digital world, where the analogue seems to lose more and more value.
The Project
In addition to my daily work on commissions, I love to experiment with new techniques and materials and thus always discover new things. Since I have been a fan of the famous Hermès-Carrès for a long time and appreciate the illustration very much, I simply designed my own.
The Concept
The illustration is about the ever faster perception of space and time in a digital world, where the analogue seems to lose more and more value and meaning. Real materials and objects seem outdated and backward and are transient and forgotten in milliseconds. Analogue transforms into digital and thus becomes less and less tangible for humans.
Inspiration
In order to reflect this perception within my illustration, I constructed 3D elements in Cinema 4D on the basis of construction plans of various watches and a real pocket watch, which I bought at the flea market. I arranged these objects into a colored illustration which artificially reproduces the transformation from analog to digital.
Digital Construction
Photography
The photos of the silk scarf were taken on a cloudy day in the park next to my studio and I had a lot of fun throwing my silk scarf into the sky again and again. But for all the other people in the park it seemed a bit strange.
