TASK

Development and design of style frames for the title animation of „The History of Boxing“, a series of documentaries on historic events concerning the sport of boxing.

WORK

I used historical photographs and drawings and combined them into several collages. First, it was important to create a connection between the scenes while being rich in variants and innovative in style. To that end I used collages of photographies as well as fully illustrated panels and purely typographical approaches.

Furthermore, the selection of type faces was an important aspect. Not only did it serve to convey information, but also to facilitate the chronological classification of the pictures. To achieve this, I used the ITC Cheltenham of 1902. The Cheltenham font appears unusual but is easy to read, thanks to her broad strokes, narrow proportions and great middle length.
